Our Sustainability Plan

The Four Most Important Objectives

Ventus3 first sustainability plan was unveiled in February 2020, which is “Sustainability First.” We helped set a new standard for sustainable performance by committing to ambitious goals in key sustainability sectors.

The three (3) main objectives of our strategy are:

  • Without the use of carbon offsets, by 2030 the
  • No-waste wind turbines will be manufactured by 2040
  • Becoming the energy industry’s most inclusive, safest, and most responsible wind energy company

By 2030, we aim to reach maximum carbon neutrality with zero-carbon offsets

We will not need carbon offsets to attain carbon neutrality since Ventus3 is dedicated to leading the transformation to a world powered entirely by renewable power. When it comes to reducing CO2 emissions, we’ll be doing it ourselves. Investment in projects across the world serves as carbon offsetting for businesses. Because of this, it can be difficult to verify that the projects financed by the sale of carbon offsets are measurable and long-lasting and that they wouldn’t have been possible if the funds weren’t available. Sustainable energy and zero-emissions operations are our goals for the future. In order to reach our goals, we won’t be relying on offsets. Carbon offsets do not include certificates for renewable electricity generation (RECs). One more MWh of renewable energy is guaranteed by RECs.

There are now 127 environmentally friendly vehicles in our servicing fleet, 35 percent of which have been converted to electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids. Zero-emission vehicles will make up the majority of our fleet by the year 2025.

Our chain of supply CO2 emissions will be cut by 45% per MWh produced by 2030 as well. It is based on the findings of the Science Based Targets project (SBTi). The SBTi has confirmed and approved our August 2020 carbon neutrality target for our own operations.

Renewable Wind Turbines that Produce Zero-Trash to Trash by 2040

On average, Ventus3 wind turbines are recyclable at 85%. In contrast, our wind turbine blades and hub are made of a substantial number of composite materials that cannot be recycled. The first stage is to improve the recyclability of all turbine rotors so that they can be reused. Increases in the percentage of these components that are recyclable have been set for 2025 and 2030, respectively. As part of our efforts to address the decommissioning of existing wind turbine blades, we are exploring new recycling methods, engaging with material value chains, and providing guidelines for wind turbine operators.

The goal of zero-waste turbines is to build a value chain in which no waste materials are generated. So, in October 2021, the Circularity Roadmap will be released to the public. Ventus3 complete value chain is mapped out in a circularity roadmap that sets new goals for design, operations, and material recovery.

Ensuring a Sustainable Future

Two of the most important VentusCube bodies are the Board of Directors (BoD) and Executive Management. VentusCube Sustainability Strategy was adopted by both bodies in 2019. In VentusCube board of directors, the Audit Committee, Nominations & Compensation Committee, and Technology & Manufacturing Committee are all supervising teams, ensuring sustainability in our work. According to our Code of Conduct and participation in the World Economic Forum's Partnering Against Corruption Initiative, the Audit Committee assesses VentusCube ethics. EthicsLine, our whistleblowing system, also reports to this committee the cases that have been lodged. It is the Nomination & Compensation Committee's job to assist the Board of Directors in all matters relating to staff, including diversity. Finally, the Technology & Manufacturing Committee examines our company's environmental performance.

VDX Energy Sustainability Committees are responsible for establishing company-wide goals for a more sustainable VDX. Additionally, they are in charge of ensuring that our organization adheres to and upholds its UN Global Compact obligations. The Executive Committee is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors.

The VDX Energy Sustainability department was created in April 2019. As part of MarCom, Sustainability & Public Affairs, the department operates from the VDX Energy CEO Office. It is in charge of developing, organizing, and implementing the company's sustainability plan in close cooperation with the many functional divisions. The Sustainability Committee receives regular updates from it.

Everyone at VDX Energy has to follow the VDX Energy Management System in order to be successful. It helps us to implement all exterior and interior sustainability standards consistently, efficiently, and effectively. Our goal is to incorporate sustainability into every aspect of our organization.

Our procedures are based on global credentials for quality, the environment, and health and safety for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, to further demonstrate our dedication to the highest levels of health care, safety, and the environment. ISO 50001 certification has been granted to two German firms.
